April 02, 2014, New York, NY—Ludwig Cancer Research congratulates its eminent researchers Joan Brugge, Richard Hynes, Ken Kinzler, Richard Kolodner and Irving Weissman on their election this year as fellows of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR). The AACR only recognizes as fellows those researchers who have made exceptional contributions to the understanding and treatment of cancer.
The fellows are selected following a rigorous peer review process, and we have little doubt that the Ludwig researchers honored this year passed such review with flying colors.
The Ludwig researchers inducted into the Academy hold the following posts:
– Joan Brugge is co-director of the Ludwig Center at Harvard
– Richard Hynes is a Ludwig professor at the Ludwig Center at MIT
– Kenneth Kinzler is co-director of the Ludwig Center at Johns Hopkins
– Richard Kolodner is a member of the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research San Diego
– Irving Weissman is director of the Ludwig Center at Stanford
They will be inducted into the AACR Academy, along with other members of the 2014 class of AACR fellows, at the Association’s annual meeting in San Diego, Calif., April 5-9, and formally recognized during the opening plenary session of the meeting on Sunday, April 6. The researchers join their Ludwig colleagues who were elected to the first class of the Academy last year.
